Apple hires new people from BBC and Deezer

BBC One

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), continues to hire talented people in its teams in Cupertino and Great Britain, and today we are talking about new people with the BBC who works for the American company in key positions for the development of its future plans. I'm talking about four BBC Radio 1 producers who were hired by Apple to help it develop and launch its Beats-based audio streaming service.

Two months ago Apple hired DJ Zane Lowe, for exactly the same purpose, and now it seems like him brings and some of the former collaborators from the BBC to realize the plans of the Apple company. James Bursey, Natasha Lynch, Kieran Yeates and another radio station producer have left the BBC for Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, leading various shows within the British giant.

Little more than two months after poaching Zane Lowe from BBC Radio 1, MBW understands that Apple has pinched four producers from the station – including key talent from BBC Introducing. One of this foursome is believed to be Lowe's old producer at Radio 1, James Bursey. Three more BBC producers are set to join him at Apple – but working from the company's London office. Meanwhile, the respected head of editorial at Spotify rival Deezer, James Foley, is understood to have left the company to join a secretive competitor.

James Bursey is the former producer of the shows made by Zane Lowe in the framework BBC Radio 1 and has been an employee of the company since 2003, he is leaving the radio station on Friday to join the team led by Lowe in Cupertino next week. The rest of the three producers will work in Apple's London offices after a last weekend spent at BBC Radio 1, so they will probably choose the music that will be available to the British on Apple's streaming service.

Natasha Lynch was one of the producers of Huw Stephens' shows, while Kieran Yeats was one of the managers who decided which of the new young artists were to be promoted on BBC Radio 1 shows. Apart from all of them, Apple also hired James Foley from Deezer, who is the head of the editorial team, so the American company is not afraid to take on people even from the competition.

Apple's new audio streaming service will be launched in the framework WWDC 2015 with iOS 8.4 si the new Music app which those interested can already test as part of the beta versions of this version of iOS.
