iDevice.ro mini review: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ vs iPhone 6 Plus - camera comparison

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ cameraI told you last Friday that Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ has arrived at iDevice.ro thanks to the people from Orange and the program Orange Smartphone Tester and during this weekend I had the opportunity to familiarize myself with it, and one or two of its strong points are without question the 5 and 16 megapixel cameras respectively implemented by Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + it has a main camera of 16 megapixels that is capable of recording photos at a resolution of 5312 x 2988 pixels, it has an optical image stabilizer, LED Flash, aperture f/1.9, pixel size 1.2μm, focal length of 28mm, sensor size 1/2.6" image, ability to film 4K at 30 FPS and slow motion at 120 FPS.

Regarding the front camera, we are talking about a 5 megapixel sensor capable of recording video clips in 1440p format at 30 frames per second, it also has the HDR function available for recording selfies as clear as possible.

For the two cameras, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ also has a custom-made application, displaying real-time images on the entire screen, which is extremely important, but the options available natively surpass the native iOS Camera application without question.

More precisely, using the native Android application, you can control everything from ISO to the tonality of colors, and after recording a photo you will have a multitude of options for editing them from the start in order to make them exactly as you want them.

Leaving the software aside, it is the hardware that impresses the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, its 16 megapixel camera recording much clearer, brighter and more accurate photos than the 8 megapixel camera of the iPhone 6S Plus, but of course you are already expecting something like this.

Those from Samsung use a much better performing image sensor in the main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ than Apple in the iPhone 6 Plus, and this is visible not only in its specifications, but also in the quality of the photos, including those taken at night without LED flash.

If we move on to the front camera, the difference between the iPhone 6 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is colossal, the first having a 1.2 megapixel camera, while the second has a 5 megapixel one. The very good camera also has an extremely long series of options that allow you to modify any aspect of your selfies, including only certain portions of the photos to beautify them.

Although the photos recorded using the front camera are impressive, less impressive is the fact that sometimes the Camera application in Android has problems keeping up with the movements made by the user, so you might see yourself "replaying" in it.

Despite this, you can see for yourself that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ still offers a much better selfie recording experience, mainly thanks to the larger and better performing image sensor.

Translating these specifications into the user experience, you will have much clearer, brighter and larger pictures, the camera in the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ having a larger sensor that is able to include more of what is around you without to use a selfie stick.

The images and video clips in this article show as well as possible the differences that exist between the cameras of the two terminals and I only hope that the rumors that suggested that Apple will implement respectively 5 and 12 megapixel cameras in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus come true .
