Apple hires experts in virtual reality

Apple hired one of the best-known experts in virtual reality in order to be able to send their project regarding the development of such a system, those from Cupertino having for some time been particularly interested in bringing a product for virtual reality to the market.

Doug Bowman is the name of the virtual reality expert who since the end of last year has been part of the Apple division that develops a virtual reality system, he being a former professor at the University of Virginia before taking a leave of absence and working for Apple.

Bowman has experience with various virtual reality systems including HTC Vive, Google Cardboard or Google Glass, so we are talking about a person that Apple can use to successfully develop its virtual reality system under testing.

Apple has bought a variety of companies that develop virtual reality systems and has filed for registration many patents for such technologies, the number of offers for jobs in this field being more and more within Apple.

His experience spans both fully immersive VR, as used in Facebook's Oculus Rift and HTC's Vive headsets, as well as augmented reality, where transparent visors such as Microsoft's Hololens, Google Glass and secretive start-up Magic Leap mingle digital images with the real world still visible.

Considering that Google, Samsung, HTC and Facebook have projects for the development of virtual reality systems, many wonder why Apple has not yet officially announced one and it seems that the lack of such technology is a problem for those in Cupertino.

Even if Apple is developing a virtual reality system, no one knows when or if it will ever reach the market, so we shouldn't get too excited.
