Whether you want to believe it or not, a young woman from the USA transmitted the rape directly to her friends via the Periscope app, one of the people who witnessed the scenes being a friend of the victim, she also announced the authorities who arrested the rapist and the young woman who made the live stream.
Marina Alexeevna Lonina is the young woman in question, she was with a 17-year-old friend in, probably, the residence of a man named Raymond Boyd Gates, the latter committing the crime of rape while Lonina was streaming live through Periscope.
The police were notified by the victim's friend who was following everything from another American state, the authorities intervened to arrest the rapist and the young woman who transmitted everything, both being charged by the prosecutors, they risk up to 40 years each for committing multiple crimes.
Considering that the victim is a minor, the facts are all the more serious, and this is probably the first time that a rape is transmitted live through an application like Periscope, but if this had not happened, the rapist would would probably have been harder to catch.
An Ohio woman has been indicted by a Grand Jury on charges she used the social media app Periscope to live stream her own friend's rape. Authorities were notified of the sexual assault by another friend of Lonina's who watched the Periscope live stream in another state.
The tragedy calls into question the role of this type of smartphone applications, as they can prove to be extremely useful at times in discovering the perpetrators of serious crimes.
