The first website was launched 25 years ago

Yesterday was 25 years since the launch of the first website, on August 6, 1991, it was opened the first page of the internet by Tim Berners-Lee, describing in his framework the World Wide Web project, the abbreviation being www in the daily use of the Internet throughout the world.

The launch of this website was not done with much fanfare, and because of this it took 17 days for the first new users to visit the website, but the publication of the page was the starting point of what we know today as the Internet , after appearing a multitude of other accessible websites from all over the world.

The Internet was widely adopted only in 1993, however, when NCSA launched the first browser used by a large number of users, called Mosaic, and CERN seriously contributed to its adoption, because the browser was offered free and open source for all those interested in using it.

Initially the World Wide Web was thought as a method by which scientific researchers can collaborate and publish information useful for research, but in the end it turned out to be a major revolution in the way people communicate on the Internet from various corners of the globe, some billions of websites have been created since then and until now.
