iPad Pro recorded weak sales in Q3 2016

Although Apple is trying to revitalize the iPad line with the tablets in the series iPad Pro, the reality is that they do not have the success that those from Cupertino would like to see at this moment. Much more expensive than the rest of the series, the iPad Pro tablets represented only a third of the 9.26 million iPad tablets sold worldwide in Q3 2016 by Apple.

The percentage is very small, if we consider that we are talking about premium tablets that have not only top functions, but also specifications in line with the expectations of global customers. Despite this, most Apple customers preferred to buy the cheaper tablet models, so that the old iPads represented 2 thirds of the total sales.

With inferior performances and technologies, these tablets sold better thanks to the lower price that Apple charged for them in the last three months. Sales of iPad tablets fell by 600.000 units compared to Q3 2015, but Apple's revenue from the sale of this type of product remained at $4.2 billion, the same as in Q3 2015.

iPad Pro tablets have a higher selling price, therefore a higher average selling price, and Apple makes more money by selling fewer tablets worldwide. Although its sales decreased, Apple still remained in the first position in the top of the tablet manufacturers, the company being followed by Samsung, at a considerable distance.

Tablet sales fell by 14.7% compared to the same period last year, Apple being the top 10 manufacturer with the smallest percentage decrease.
