The Samsung Galaxy S8 could have 8GB of DDR4X RAM

The Samsung Galaxy S8 could have 8 GB DDR4X RAM produced by SK Hynix, the performance offered by these modules being superior to DDR4.

Samsung Galaxy S8 it could have 8 GB DDR4X RAM produced by the SK Hynix company, which supplies DDR 4 RAM modules including for the Apple company. Today Hynix announced the launch of the new 8 GB RAM DDR4X models for smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S8 being the first terminal to benefit from this technology.

According to the SK Hynix company, these DDR4X RAM modules are made up of pieces of 8 Gbits each, two 4-piece modules being configured in dual-channel. Because we are talking about DDR4X RAM modules for smartphones, they have small dimensions and a very low energy consumption, as is expected from such components.

The new DDR4X RAM modules take up to 30% less space than the current DDR4 RAM modules, but also consume up to 20% less energy. 8 GB is the maximum configuration that SK Hynix can offer, but of course it can also offer modules with less RAM memory, depending on the needs of smartphone manufacturers.

Considering that the Asus Zenfone AR was already announced as a smartphone with 8 GB of RAM, some believe that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will also have that much RAM. Unlike the ASUS terminal, the Samsung Galaxy S8 would use the new DDR4X modules, which will offer much better performance than the DDR4 ones.

Although the dream is a beautiful one for the Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung has not yet made the switch to 6 GB RAM modules for its own Android smartphones. A move from 4 GB of RAM to 8 GB of RAM would be extremely big for Samsung, but if the price and performance are up to par, then the Samsung Galaxy S8 could be really spectacular.

Considering that SK Hynix is also an Apple supplier, it would not be excluded that the iPhone 8 would benefit from this new type of DDR4X RAM modules. Of course, Apple must also receive a very good price for them, otherwise there is very little chance of this happening.
