Samsung Galaxy S8 - here's why it doesn't have a fingerprint reader in the screen

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will not have a fingerprint reader integrated into the screen because the technology behind this component is not finalized.

Samsung Galaxy S8 it will not have a fingerprint reader integrated into the screen, as many people wanted from the new smartphone developed by the Korean company. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a fingerprint reader located next to the main camera of the terminal, something that very few people wanted before the information appeared.

According to some sources inside the company, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will not have a fingerprint reader integrated into the screen because there was not enough time to offer the technology. It seems that Samsung invested serious amounts of money in implementing a fingerprint reader in the Samsung Galaxy S8 screen, but the result was a "frustrating" one for the company.

Considering that the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 was approaching and there was no progress, the people from Samsung made the decision to temporarily abandon the idea in favor of another option. More precisely, we are talking about the fingerprint reader that will be mounted next to the Samsung Galaxy S8 camera, this option being the simplest for the South Korean company.

For the Samsung Galaxy S8, those from Samsung tested a Synaptics solution for fingerprint scanning, all of its support being offered in order to complete the technology. Unfortunately for the Samsung Galaxy S8, the technology itself is still in the testing phase, so it will probably end up in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, or maybe in next year's terminals.

If a fingerprint reader could not be implemented in the Samsung Galaxy S8, then what are the chances that it will end up in the iPhone 8? It is true that the iPhone 8 will be released much later than the Samsung Galaxy S8, but if the technology is not good enough, even if it does not come from Synaptics, then we might also have a disappointment from Apple.

"Samsung poured resources into Synaptics' fledgling technology last year but the results were frustrating. With the production imminent, the company had to decide to relocate the fingerprint scanning home button to the back of the device at the last minute."

Expanding the screens on the entire front panel, as happens with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8, requires the removal of the Home buttons and the fingerprint readers from them. Relocation in the case is not the most elegant solution, neither for the Samsung Galaxy S8, nor for the iPhone 8, so we hope that Apple does not make the same decision.
