Samsung will pay 120 million dollars for copying a function a iPhone developed by the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, an American court rejecting the last appeal of the Koreans. The amount of 120 million dollars is part of an old decision by which the Koreans were forced to pay 1 billion dollars to the Apple company, but they appealed over and over to get rid of the decision.
Samsung now has to pay 120 million dollars for copying the iPhone's slide to unlock function, which disappeared more than a year ago with an iOS update. In 2011, when the trial began, slide to unlock was the basic function of the iPhone to allow the unlocking of phones, and now Samsung will pay for copying it.
Samsung has already paid over 500 million dollars of the 1 billion sum that an American court awarded to Apple, but will add another 120 million dollars. Of course, everything that Samsung is paying now is nothing compared to the profit made after copying the products of those from Cupertino, so for them the punishment does not matter.
Samsung has not only copied slide to unlock, but also a technology that allows accessing certain texts as links for calling, adding dates to calendars, or accessing locations. Now those from Samsung will have to give up 120 million dollars in the end to satisfy the request of the American court, and so Apple will earn a little more profit from its phones.
