Samsung Galaxy S8 had sales below iPhone 6S

Samsung Galaxy S8 had lower sales than iPhone 6S in T3 2017, the evolution of the Korean company showing how big the competition is in the smartphone market.

Samsung Galaxy S8 has a rather sad end of the year, with discounts of 1600 LEI in this page, but also with weaker sales than those of the iPhone 6S, according to Canalys. The company specialized in analyzing global markets claims that the Samsung Galaxy S8 series was sold in 10.3 million units in T3 2017, i.e. in three months, while the iPhone 6S was sold in 7.9 million units in the same period.

Samsung Galaxy S8 iPhone 6S sales

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus together collected sales of only 2.4 million units higher than the iPhone 6S, a sign that in reality the first has lower sales than the Apple phone. Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus are sold in a ratio of 60/70 to 40/30 on global markets, many people being interested in the model with a bigger screen, so the situation is a bit bad for Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 was overtaken in sales by a 2-year-old phone, yes the iPhone 6S turned 2 years old in September, but it still records better sales than the Samsung phone. It is true that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is more expensive than the iPhone 6S, but the sales of the iPhone 7, which is on par with the Samsung phone, were most likely double, so there can be no doubt about the existing demand.

Samsung Galaxy S8 - smaller than the iPhone 6S

The Samsung Galaxy S8 was Samsung's top model until the end of August, so in half of T3 2017, but even so, it did not manage to collect sales as much as the iPhone 6S. There are no sales figures for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus together, but it is possible that this series had sales equal to that of the Samsung Galaxy S8, or maybe only slightly lower, but that says a lot about Samsung's customers.

"Samsung had a positive quarter. It discounted the Galaxy S8 in several major countries in Q3, which helped ease inventory buildup from the previous quarter. In total, it shipped 10.3 million devices from its Galaxy S8 range in Q3. But Samsung's golden period of having a differentiated product has now ended."

The Samsung Galaxy S8 was supposed to be the phone that broke all the sales records for Samsung, but after some initial information about the sales after the launch, we haven't heard anything about it. Samsung did not say that the phone is breaking sales records, but only that the Samsung Galaxy S8 would sell slightly better than the previous series, but that was a few months ago.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a very interesting phone, it set the tone for the implementation of screens that cover the entire front panel of the case, but it was kind of forgotten in the summer. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will make way for him Samsung Galaxy S9 soon and it will be interesting to see if it will be able to surpass the iPhone 8 in sales, the Samsung Galaxy S8 succeeding in T3 2017.
