Facebook: PRIVATE Messages Accessed by Unauthorized

Facebook officially confirms that the private messages of the users were accessed without authorization by Cambridge Analytica, 110.000 Romanians being affected.

Facebook PRIVATE Messages Accessed Unauthorized

Facebook today published a special page that allows users to find out if their data has been accessed by Cambridge Analytica and used for various purposes over time. Facebook also confirmed the fact that 110.000 Romanians had their data accessed by the company hated by everyone, and thanks to this page we also learn that private messages were also accessed by Cambridge Analytica.

Facebook tells people either that their data was accessed or not, but it also tells them if their friends had their data accessed by Cambridge Analytica, and what data was accessed. According to those from Facebook, the data accessed includes information about the News Feed, timeline posts, but also posts or messages sent between users and friends, apparently including private messages sent between them.

Facebook – private messages accessed by unauthorized persons

Facebook had not announced until now that such data had been accessed by Cambridge Analytica, but it would seem that they still reached this company, but there are still some limits. If you have given the application access to your Facebook data This Is Your Digital Life, then all the above data was accessed by her, but if only a friend gave her access, then apparently only the private messages between you would have been shared.

"A small number of people who logged into "This Is Your Digital Life" also shared their own News Feed, timeline, posts and messages which may have included posts and messages from you,"

Facebook would not have provided access to all the messages sent by you, if only one friend used that application, but only to the communications between him and you, so the rest of the data should be safe. However, today's disclosure shows us how much data Cambridge Analytica had access to and thus it is easier to understand why this company was able to manipulate so many people at the request of those interested in promoting their interests.
