Windows 10 is at the center of a new attack that Microsoft is preparing against Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and the iPad tablet during this year, those from Redmond being determined to have a much better position in relation to all competitors. In this idea, Microsoft wants in 2018 to bring to the market a cheaper model of the Surface tablet, which will run Windows 10 and be a more serious competitor for Apple's iPad tablets.

Windows 10 would offer special functions for this cheaper version of the Surface tablet to be able to offer those who want an iPad an alternative worthy of consideration for purchase this year. Microsoft would like to sell its Surface tablets at prices that do not fall below the value of 400 dollars, and with Windows 10 and functions taken from computers, the chances of such products being successful are very high, because Apple does not really have something similar.

Windows 10 is also offered for the current models of Surface tablets, but they are competitors for MacBooks, not for the iPad, and this is because they have components worthy of computers, but also reasonable prices. Both Apple and Microsoft claim that their products can replace computers, but between iOS and Windows 10, only the latter can offer functions important enough to replace those that a computer has, and the iPad will not be able to offer.

"Microsoft Corp. is planning to release a line of lower-cost Surface tablets as soon as the second half of 2018, seeking a hit in a market for cheaper devices that Apple dominates with the iPad. The new tablets will feature 10-inch screens — around the same size as a standard iPad, but smaller than the 12-inch screens used on the Surface Pro laptop line. The new Surfaces, priced about $400, will have rounded edges like an iPad."

Windows 10 can run on ARM processors, but those from Microsoft want to use Intel processors for these new tablets, which will have a base price of 400 dollars, but also many options for upgrades. Considering that Apple insists on bringing macOS to the iPad, new cheap Surface tablets running Windows 10 can be a very interesting alternative for those who want more mobility in everyday life.
