Huawei will DROP Windows 10 for Future Laptops

Huawei has confirmed that it will abandon Windows 10 for its future laptops, preferring to use the Harmony OS operating system, which is thought to be as versatile as possible. Huawei presents the situation as something done willingly, but in reality it is forced to give up Windows 10 for laptops because Microsoft cannot license its products to use the operating system, so it cannot launch them with it pre-installed.

Huawei developed Harmony OS specifically to replace Android, Windows 10, but also to deliver it to various other products, from cars to industrial equipment, and this way it will also end up in laptops. Those from Huawei said that they will integrate Harmony OS in future laptops, but so far no details have appeared regarding the models that will be launched with this operating system, but information will probably appear soon.

Huawei will first integrate Harmony OS in the laptops it will sell in China, and then it will integrate the operating system in the products that are delivered outside the country, where this major change matters a lot. Nobody wants Harmony OS instead of Android or Windows 10, but considering that Huawei cannot license operating systems, there is no other solution, except to stop launching new devices.

Gauden said the first products with HarmonyOS installed outside of China could include smartwatches and laptops. Laptops are also another successful product category for Huawei and currently use Microsoft's Windows operating system.”

The plan of those from Huawei to continue selling phones, laptops, etc., even with the US sanctions still in force, is not new, but was very well thought out and prepared since about 1 year ago. Huawei also made a stock of components for various products, but it cannot use them because the software required for them cannot be licensed, so part of the preparations were in vain, and this could affect the future of the company.

Huawei will present on September 19 new phone models, and maybe new smartwatch models, so it is possible to see other interesting surprises on that day.
