NASA, an asteroid as powerful as a nuclear bomb is coming at very high speed towards the Earth at the moment, the American space agency issuing a new important alert for the whole planet. Unlike other asteroids, this one has a 5% chance of hitting the Earth, which is extremely high if we consider the fact that most of those discovered by NASA pass at great distances from the planet and normally have lower chances of 1% impact.
NASA claims that this asteroid is coming at a speed of 44.000 KM/h towards the Earth at the moment, it being extremely large, and this is one of the very serious problems that exist for everyone. Apart from the speed, NASA calculated that this asteroid would also have a weight of 500.000 KG, so extremely high compared to what many people expect, so there are serious reasons to issue this new alert.

NASA claims that if this asteroid were to hit the Earth, the force of the explosion would be similar to that of a 9-kiloton nuclear bomb, which would create significant destruction for the area where the impact would take place. This asteroid would not have very large dimensions, according to those from NASA, but the weight and the speed with which it is heading towards the Earth represent the big problem at the moment, and the reason why an alert had to be issued.
NASA does not normally issue alerts for asteroids, but in the case of the one with the name RF, one was needed since the chances of hitting the Earth are so high, 5% being a substantial percentage. The good part is that NASA has calculated as the possible date of impact a day of a year several decades away from now, so by then we could have a system to protect our planet from the rocks from outer space.
NASA is working together with ESA on this system at the moment, but for now it is not known when it could be launched to really protect the planet we live on now.
