Those from WhatsApp have announced that at the moment they do not offer total encryption for messages, pictures and video clips that are saved in backups and stored in iCloud, which represents an extremely big problem for everyone.
WhatsApp wants to solve this problem, so in the latest beta version for iOS it has a special option that allows the activation of this functionality for everyone, and this is extremely good news. Basically, anyone who wants to activate this option can do so, and when the pictures, video clips, and messages are uploaded to iCloud via WhatsApp, they will benefit from total encryption, without being able to be accessed.
WhatsApp: ATTENTION, SERIOUS Problem Officially Recognized
WhatsApp introduces this functionality after many requests from users all over the world, but also from some companies specialized in IT security. Everyone requested that these backups be totally encrypted by WhatsApp before being uploaded to iCloud, as it happens also in the case of the Android platform with the backups from Google Drive, so it would only be providing an experience identical for everyone.
WhatsApp it took a long time to integrate such a level of security for all users, and it's a shame that it took so long to get exactly what we expected from it.
