OLX: LAST TIME ALERT Issued for ALL Romanians in the country

OLX LAST TIME ALERT Issued for ALL Romanians in the country

OLX, the largest free classifieds website in Romania, has issued an extremely important alert for Romanians all over the country, and it's one that everyone should know about because it targets the problems with frauds that have been taking place recently, even look at the website.

OLX says that there are many phishing attacks aimed at cloning its website, and tricking people into entering their bank details to buy fictitious products, which ultimately leads to the theft of their money from their cards, unfortunately.

OLX also tells Romanians not to have conversations outside the platform, because they cannot know if they are talking with the seller there, or with another unknown person, and that way they can be deceived regarding the product they are going to buy.

OLX comes with this alert after, probably, many people complained because there are a lot of scams online, and they are related to the platform, so everyone needs to be very vigilant at the moment.

"It's a busy time for sellers, with many opportunities to close deals. Especially during the Holidays, we recommend you to be vigilant to avoid phishing attempts.

We recently launched OLX Delivery, which allows you to sell to buyers across the country. What you must remember is that the collection of the amount for the products sold on OLX is never done online, but only through FAN Courier. After the buyer checks the product and pays for it, you receive the money in cash or directly to your account, the one specified from the very beginning.

OLX does not have a card payment solution for products purchased through the platform, so it will not ask you for the number on the back of your bank card (CVV/CVC code). Attackers generate a fake link where sellers are asked for their card details, account balance and CVV/CVC code under the pretext of being paid. However, we remind you that the collection of the amount for the products sold on OLX is done only through the courier company that delivers the product, by cash on delivery.

Look carefully at any link you are asked to click, especially if you receive it via WhatsApp or other messaging than the official OLX one.

If a buyer texts you via WhatsApp that they have made the payment and asks you to click on a link to see the proof, you can be sure that it is a scam.

Attackers personalize phone numbers with the name of a trusted company and then send fake messages that direct users to their pages. Check them carefully.

A message written with many mistakes and in an alert tone, asking you to make decisions too quickly, should arouse your suspicion."
