The Romanian Post Announces the Extension of the Validity of Energy Cards

The Romanian Post officially announces the extension of the validity of the energy cards issued by the Government of Romania, so that, based on the new provisions, we are talking about an extended validity period until March 31, 2024 for these energy cards.

We bring good news for the millions of Romanians who benefit from energy cards!

The validity period of energy cards will be extended until March 31, 2024, according to the statements of the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Adrian Câciu‼️

The decision was taken following discussions with representatives of the European Commission, and vulnerable households will have the opportunity to get through the cold season well.

We remind you that beneficiaries can pay current or overdue bills, only for the place of consumption at the beneficiary's residence. One card can be used to make multiple payments to multiple providers, until the amount is used up.

Also, to pay bills with the energy card, you can use the 3 established methods:

  • at any subunit of the Romanian Post;
  • to the postman who arrived at the beneficiary's residence;
  • online, on the Romanian Post website.

Remember, to save time, you must have the following documents with you:

  • Energy card (received by Romanian Post);
  • Beneficiary's identity document (or power of attorney document, which can also be holographic, in the case of beneficiaries who cannot travel, and the identity document of the proxy and the beneficiary);
  • Invoice (current or outstanding) or other supporting document (payment notice from the supplier OR debt validation certificate from the owner/tenant association, in the case of payment for heating in a centralized heating system).

The Ministry of European Investments and Projects will take all steps to quickly amend the national legislation.

Poșta Română is MIPE's partner in the implementation of the support program for vulnerable people for the payment of electricity and home heating bills.
