Do you want to buy an iPhone from Vodafone or Cosmote? Here's what you need to know!

Cosmote and Vodafone are preparing to launch iPhone 4 this evening and there are probably some of you who are thinking of purchasing this terminal from one of these two operators. I made this article because you need to know before you buy what awaits you when you get home with the terminal. I'm telling you right now that it's very possible that all terminals come with iOS 4.2.1 already installed, but even if they come with 4.1 decoding, you still can't do it.

DECODE

It is rumored that the terminals sold by Cosmote and Germanos will be factory unlocked, meaning decoded from the factory, so you will be able to use them in any network without any problem and you will be able to activate with any card.

The terminals sold by Vodafone will most likely be coded, so you will NOT be able to decode them for now because there is no decoding solution for the baseband 02.10.04/03.10.01 from iOS 4.1/4.2.1, so you will have to use those terminals in the Vodafone network.

jailbreak

You can jailbreak no matter what version of iOS they have, the only difference is that on iOS 4.1 the jailbreak will be untethered and on iOS 4.2.1 it will be tethered.

If you have iOS 4.1 you can use limera1n, greenpois0n, Pwnagetool or redsn0w for jailbreak.

If you have iOS 4.2.1 then you can jailbreak only with redsn0w.

FaceTime

This function can be activated for any of the 2 operators, so you don't have to worry.

These would be the most important points that you should consider for tomorrow's launch. If you have any other questions or problems, you can ask here or on the Forum.
