Rumor: iPad 2 – carbon fiber case, NFC and a 7-inch model

Those from iLounge have obtained information from sources close to Apple who claim that there is a possibility of seeing an iPad 2 tablet with a 7-inch screen, carbon fiber casing and implemented NFC technology. Apple is currently working on the development of accessories compatible with the NFC/RFID technology implemented in the tablet, accessories that can be used for bank payments, for example.

In the most basic implementation, an accessory could announce its presence and potential functions to an iPad or iPhone without the need for a Bluetooth or similar connection; our source suggests that an otherwise simple case could include a radio chip so that an inserted iPhone or iPad could go into power-saving hibernation mode automatically. More complex accessories will go far beyond that.

Apparently, Apple is also working on a carbon fiber case for the iPad 2 in order to reduce the weight of the tablet. Many customers have complained that the tablet is quite heavy, so Apple seems to have taken these criticisms and turned them into a new design for the tablet. Regarding the 7-inch screen, iLounge claims that certain manufacturers were asked to produce components that would be used in a 7-inch version of the iPad tablet.

Those from iLounge conclude by saying that this information is preliminary. However, the tablet in the image below looks good.
