Tutorial: Activation of iOS 5 beta 5 on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch with the possibility of using the telephony function

Since iOS 5 beta appeared, we have a multitude of methods for activating our terminals. Each of them differs not only in the way of implementation but also in the way it affects the functions of the terminal. Most of these methods do not activate in the true sense of the word, so we lose the possibility to use the telephony function. Fortunately the method below, explained by me and for iOS 5 beta 4, it activates the device and does not require recovery after each restart, but requires a tethered jailbreak.

To do this tutorial you must have iOS 5 beta 5 installed on your terminal and iTunes 10.5 beta 5 installed on your computer. You can get these 2 files from an iOS application developer.

1. Install iOS 5 beta 5 on your terminal if you have not already done so.

2. After installation follow this tutorial to jailbreak your terminal.

3. Boot tethered and using iFunbox or iPhone Explorer access the system files of your device and navigate to: /System/Library/CoreServices where you will copy the file from SystemVersion.plist in your computer. I recommend that you save it in 2 different locations.

4. Open that file with a text editor and delete the entry. It is recommended to use Notepad with administrator rights if you are in Windows. To do this, locate Notepad on your PC (C: \ Windows), right-click on the file and select Run as Administrator then press Yes if a warning message is displayed. After opening Notepad, drag & drop in Notepad the file copied to the computer in step 3 and delete the following entries:

ReleaseType
Beta

5. After saving the document, copy it to your terminal in the same location you took it from and restart the terminal, but I recommend you to put it directly in DFU Mode and boot tethered with redsn0w.

6. When the terminal restarts, you will activate directly from the terminal without iTunes.

If you followed the steps correctly then you should be able to use iOS 5 including the phone function on your iPhone. These steps must be repeated every time you restart the terminal.
