2019 is going to be an extremely interesting year in terms of phone cameras, and that's because Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, Samsung and LG are preparing major changes for the cameras that will be used in their future phones. According to some sources from the companies with which Apple, Samsung, and LG collaborate, the three manufacturers intend to implement triple cameras for the phones that will be launched in 2019 on the market, as Huawei has already done.

Samsung GALAXY S10 will be launched in March with a triple camera for at least the model with the largest screen, Apple will integrate the same thing in the iPhone phones that will be launched in the fall, and LG will not be inferior. Triple cameras were made popular by those from Huawei, who have demonstrated that they can be useful in mobile phones, and now Apple, Samsung and LG want to integrate similar cameras for their own phones.

The implementation of triple cameras for phones was going to come sooner or later, whether Huawei did it, or another phone manufacturer did it, and since the cutout was copied, that will happen with this idea as well. Of course, Samsung, Apple and LG will each have something "innovative" for the triple camera that they will implement for their own users, but it's hard to say what exactly they can offer different from what Huawei already has.

"Most major smartphone makers, including Samsung Electronics, Apple and LG Electronics, are reportedly preparing to roll out smartphones fitted with three rear-facing camera modules in a bid to step ahead in the premium segment. If a single-lens camera module costs, say, US$10 per unit to produce, then the dual- and triple-lens camera modules cost US$30 and US$50, respectively."

Samsung and LG produce their own cameras that they use in their phones, while Apple will buy from Sony, most likely, the image sensors that they will use in the triple cameras for the iPhone. We already know that the Samsung GALAXY S10 will be launched in March with a triple camera, phones from LG will come with something similar during that period, but Apple will only launch its phones in the fall, as it is doing at the moment.
