Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has announced today a huge purchase made from Dialog Semiconductor, the Americans inheriting 600 million dollars in the company's assets, this being practically an investment in the future iPhone. Apple licensed from Dialog Semiconductor the technology on the basis of which the chips that manage the energy taken from the iPhone battery are produced, various assets of the company, plus 300 employees who will be transferred to Apple.

Apple practically took over 16% of Dialog Semiconductor's workforce, and the amount of 600 million dollars will certainly help it to invest more in research and development. Apple paid 300 million dollars upon signing the agreement, and the other 300 million dollars represents an advance payment for products that will be delivered to it in the following years.

Apple: HUGE purchase from Dialog Company

Apple has been using Dialog chips for some time, and although in 2017 it was said that the Americans would give up their services, in reality they needed the company's technology to make iPhones better. Although those from Apple want to make their own chips to control the energy in iPhone batteries in the future, it will take some time until this happens.

"Dialog has deep expertise in chip development, and we are thrilled to have this talented group of engineers who've long supported our products now working directly for Apple. Our relationship with Dialog goes all the way back to the early iPhones, and we look forward to continuing this long-standing relationship with them."

Dialog confirmed that it will try to diversify its customer base following the agreement made with Apple, and this is because the Americans will use the investment to create their own chips. Of course, it is not known how long it might take until the Apple company brings to the market its own chip that manages the energy from the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch more efficiently, but the investment is a clear sign that it wants to control this experience as well.
