The patent registered today for those from Apple continues the idea from the previous patent, and just like in the case of the Samsung GALAXY F, it talks about a special mechanism that is used for opening and folding, this also needing a special software.

Samsung GALAXY F has described in various patents a special mechanism that would keep the phone folded or open, the Apple company is going to implement something similar, plus special functions in iOS. Both the Samsung GALAXY F, as well as a future foldable iPhone, would offer a combined functionality between a smartphone and a tablet, but how good the experience will be for each type of product separately is very difficult to say without actually seeing the products.
"Electronic devices may be provided that contain multiple housing portions. The housing portions may be coupled together using hinges. Samsung GALAXY F was officially announced by Samsung for release next year, and had a lot of news revealed by the manufacturer, while we don't know anything about a foldable iPhone.
