The coronavirus is still actively present in Romania during this period, the authorities in our country continue to confirm every day numerous new cases of infection among people, something that is of course to be expected, but the numbers we see every day are smaller and smaller, fortunately.
The coronavirus in Romania is being transmitted less and less intensively, according to the daily information coming from the authorities, and of course this is excellent news for all of us in the context in which the authorities in Romania do not expect an increase in the number of infections in our country, which is excellent news.
At the global level, the number of new cases of the Coronavirus is decreasing in certain regions, but also increasing in others, so we are talking about a different evolution depending on each region, with the worst situation in Asia, where the number of new daily cases remains still quite high, unfortunately.
"In the last 24 hours, 192 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, 128 less than the previous day. 18 of the new cases in 24 hours are from reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.
*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized.
**As for cases from abroad, these are cases of citizens who came to Romania having been infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total of new cases not allocated by county.
Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 14 people were reconfirmed positive.
In specialized health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 631, 2 more than the previous day. Also, 101 people are hospitalized at ATI, 2 more than the previous day. Of the 101 patients admitted to ATI, 91 are unvaccinated.
Out of the total number of admitted patients, 38 are minors, all of them admitted to wards, 1 less than the previous day and 0 in ATI, the same as the previous day.
DEATHS
Until today, 65.652 people diagnosed with SarsCov-2 infection have died.
In the interval 21.05.2022 (10:00) – 22.05.2022 (10:00) 1 death (male) was reported by the INSP, with no deaths reported before the reference interval.
The death was registered in the 50-59 age category.
The patient who died had comorbidities and was vaccinated.
tESTING
In the last 24 hours, 2.974 RT-PCR tests were performed (1.002 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1.972 on request) and 6.931 rapid antigen tests. Until this date, at the national level, 13.084.778 RT-PCR tests and 9.980.518 rapid antigen tests have been processed."
