iOS 8.4.1, iOS0.3.5, iOS 10.3.3, iOS 11.2.1 and iOS 11.2.5 beta 2 appear today in a very interesting comparison that shows us how the performance of the iPhone 5S has changed. We are talking about the comparison of 5 versions of the iOS operating system, the last two being close enough that the performance of the iPhone 5S is almost identical.
The interesting part is the performance differences, in synthetic tests, between iOS 8.4.1 and iOS 11.2.5 beta 2 are less than 10% in all tests. Apple does not limit the performance of the iPhone 5S depending on the degree of wear of the battery, and the tests show us that the performance does not decrease noticeably, at least in the synthetic tests.
In normal use we are talking about a doubling of iPhone 5S boot time from iOS 8.4.1 to iOS 11.2.5 beta 2, Apple making many changes here. These changes are not felt in the processing power of the phones, which remains unchanged, so users are not affected here.
However, by implementing more active processes in iOS over time and by modifying other elements of the operating system, the iPhone 5S has become "heavier". The comparison is good, but one on the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6S would have been more useful, where performance is affected by battery wear.
