Vodafone: Problems with paying the Toll on the A2 Motorway

Vodafone made a surprising decision following the problems regarding the payment of the bridge toll for the A2 highway, CNAIR making the announcement last evening.

Vodafone Problems Paying the A2 Motorway Bridge Toll

Vodafone this week had problems with some of the customers who wanted to pay the bridge toll for crossing the Fetesti and Cernavoda bridges, from the A2 highway to Constanta. According to those from CNAIR, the National Road Infrastructure Administration Company, some of Vodafone's customers could not pay the toll when they traveled on the A2 highway, and the operator recognized their fault and found a solution.

Vodafone paid the equivalent of the bridge toll for the A2 highway in the case of 92 customers who were identified by CNAIR as passing through the payment point without being able to pay the equivalent of the toll via SMS. Vodafone did not explain why the bridge toll on the A2 highway could not be paid by SMS, but following the identification of the cars for which the payment was not registered, the operator paid the equivalent value of the toll.

Vodafone: Problems with paying the Toll on the A2 Motorway

Vodafone was not initially accused of these problems, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Liviu Dragnea, stating on Facebook that he received messages from people who say that payment by SMS is impossible, but some believed that at Digi Mobil that would be the problem. In reality, the people from Vodafone were blamed for the impossibility of paying the bridge toll on the A2 highway, and if they had not solved the problem, then the people who did not pay would have received fines at home.

"Following the analysis of the problems in the Vodafone network from 01.05.2018, it was found that 92 of the users who wanted to pay the fee for crossing the bridges from Feteşti and Cernavodă by SMS and were unable to do so due to some problems technical, they have not tried to call another distributor. In this situation, the users in question were liable to a fine, which is why CNAIR SA identified and activated the 92 tolls, and Vodafone Romania assumed the payment of their value, without charging the customers. CNAIR SA appreciates the way in which VODAFONE ROMANIA decided to solve this situation, but also the promptness shown by this mobile operator, to remedy the problem that arose on May 1."

Vodafone did not say what will happen to those who paid the bridge fee at a gas station, but were identified as passing without paying, which is completely possible, since the CNAIR system sometimes has problems with recognizing payments made correctly via SMS . The good part is that Vodafone still admitted its fault and agreed to pay the value of the unsent SMS, the amount itself is not large, but the gesture matters the most.
