Valeriu Gheorghita: Warning Message, Decision in Wave 4

Valeriu Gheorghita Message Warning Decision Wave 4

Valeriu Gheorghita sends an important warning message to all Romanians throughout the country in the midst of the 4th wave of Coronavirus infections, and this is because he tells people that the vaccination budget should be seriously considered to prevent the continuation of the pandemic.

Valeriu Gheorghita says that adapting vaccines to the various strains that appear is not the best solution in the current context, and this is because vaccination with the current sera would be sufficient to prevent serious forms of the disease, even in the case of new strains.

"At this moment, it is not the solution to start adapting a vaccine according to the Delta viral variant because we see - there are many viral variants that are generated, which accumulate mutations. It's a process of natural evolution, viral evolution, and that's why it's important to understand that vaccination with the full schedule now offers the same benefits in terms of preventing hospitalization, risk of death, and ICU admissions.

The current schemes also reduce the risk of illness, even for the Delta variant the risk of infection is reduced by at least eight times compared to an unvaccinated person. As such, we consider, and it is not just a personal opinion, the opinion of experts at the international level, at the moment they advocate for the continuation of the current vaccination schemes and not for the transition to an adapted vaccine. But if at some point we will have to deal with a viral variant that is almost no longer covered by current vaccines, sure.

All vaccines licensed at this time are vaccines that have been evaluated on the parent strain, the original Wuhan strain, and some of them on the Alpha strain. The data show us at the moment that the neutralizing activity of the antibodies, even if it is slightly lower compared to the initial parental strain, the protection from severe forms, against the risk of hospitalization and against death remains at over 90%."
