iOS 5.0.1 and the OTA update notification that you can't escape

This week Apple released the first update of iOS 5 that allowed users to install the new version of the operating system directly from their own terminals. If you have not yet updated to iOS 5.0.1 from iOS 5, then you more than likely have that badge displayed in the upper right part of the Settings application, a badge that warns you that you have an unfinished OTA update. I saw that many of you are asking about a way to remove that badge from there, but unfortunately this is impossible for now without jailbreaking. Apple does not offer a possibility to close application badges, so the only way to get rid of it is to update OTA to iOS 5.0.1 or to install iOS 5.0.1 via iTunes.

If you have jailbroken your device, then removing the badge is quite simple by installing the tweak BadgeClear from Cydia. As soon as you install it, you will have the option to remove that badge along with any others displayed by your applications, and theoretically it should only appear if Apple releases iOS 5.0.2 via OTA update. This is the only method by which you can get rid of that badge, and unfortunately it does not work on the iPhone 4S terminal where you do not have a jailbreak.
