San Francisco, New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Berlin and some cities in China will benefit from the new functionality at the time of launch, so everything is dedicated only to a few tens of millions of people on the planet.
In North America and Europe, Apple obtained its own data to provide these functions, but in China it works in partnership with AutoNavi, although it is not excluded that in other regions it may have partnerships with various companies. Apart from the cities that will benefit from the new functionalities in the fall, the Apple company has already prepared a secondary list of cities where it intends to implement everything, most likely, next year.
Among these cities are Boston, Massachusetts, Tokyo and Los Angeles, but the implementation will also be based on how Apple will be able to obtain accurate data on public transport routes from the locations. Considering that Apple has designed a new map update system, users will receive Push notifications when there is news for their location and will be able to see everything directly in the Apple Maps application of iOS 9.
