LineFORM is an unusual gadget developed by MIT University researchers, it was created with the idea of showing us how a simple electronic device can change its shape according to our needs.
In the video clip below you can see that LineFORM it is thought in the form of a snake that can change its shape according to our needs, it being composed of a series of actuators and motors that react extremely quickly according to the commands given by the users.
As you will see, LineFORM it is able to transform into a mobile phone, a touchpad, a flashlight, a smartwatch and many other gadgets or electronic objects that we would normally use in our everyday life , all without much effort.
Everything is controlled by special software that tells the hardware LineFORM what form it takes for users, MIT researchers succeeding in creating a device that exceeds the limits of imagination in terms of the functionality it can offer for us in everyday life.
LineFORM is a novel Shape Changing Interface which has the form of a "Line". Lines have several interesting characteristics from the perspective of interaction design: abstractness of data representation; a variety of inherent interactions / affordances; and constraints as boundaries or borderlines.
At the moment, LineFORM only works when it is connected to a computer in order to control all its movements, but in the future the MIT researchers claim that the control system can also be done remotely, but for this to become real, time is needed .
