Apple wins a major contract with the American Hockey League

Apple recently won a major contract with the NHL, the national hockey league in the US, and will provide iPad Pro tablets plus Macs to the teams that are involved in the matches. To begin with, all the coaches of the US hockey teams will receive an iPad Pro tablet from Apple to organize their matches and make real-time strategy changes to show the players.

Apart from the coaches who will receive iPad Pro tablets to train their teams better, it seems that other tablets and Macs will be installed in the arenas where the matches will be played. Three iPad Pro tablets will be given to each team's coaches for use during matches, while the rest of the Macs and tablets will be installed at various other points where the teams have access.

16 US hockey arenas will enjoy this contract between Apple and the US National Hockey League, and the teams will be able to see replays of the phases, plus other video materials. The NHL has been testing iPad Pro tablets during matches for some time, so the implementation will take place after a very long period in which everything was intensively tested by those involved.

How much Apple will gain from this partnership remains to be seen, but it is clear that the Americans want to have an intense promotion to sell as many tablets as possible all over the world.

"By the time the player gets off his shift, that content is available within a minute, I guess, from the time it actually took place,. Today generally speaking a lot of that would be done between periods and there's a limited amount of time. ... This kind of gives the coaches and the players real-time access so that they can make adjustments."
