The Romanian authorities announced that emergency service 112 more than half of the calls are made by people who want to make fun of the operators and endanger the lives of those who really need help. This is what a 9-year-old child from Bucharest did yesterday, who called the 112 emergency service and told the operators that he was pushed into a canal mouth, and the lid was put over it, so the search began to locate it.

The 9-year-old child spent 35 minutes on the phone with 112 operators, without being able to be located, of course, and 70 policemen and dozens of firefighters were sent to the field to find and save him. After a few hours of searching, the police managed to identify this child, who is at home, and who seems not to be the first offender of this kind, he also called the 112 emergency service in the past with false calls, so he has an inclination towards it.

Because he put dozens of policemen and firemen from Bucharest on the roads, who could do something good for society for a few hours, the child brought his parents a fine of 500 LEI, which means nothing. 500 LEI for deploying such a large number of police and firemen for no reason is something that will certainly encourage him to make more false calls to 112 in the future, considering that this is not the first either.

"We use this opportunity to ask citizens to call Service 112 only in case of an emergency. False calls like the one above, frequently encountered in recent days, lead to the waste of human and logistical resources, in addition, preventing their use for intervention to eliminate real emergencies," the police said.

Of course, the child could not be held responsible for what he did, but there must be harsher repercussions for situations like this, mainly for the parents, who must provide a suitable education. Don't be afraid, even adults who make false calls to 112 do not receive much higher fines, only that in their case an invoice is also sent for mobilizing people, which does not seem to have been done here, although it should have been, no doubt.

UPDATED: It seems that in reality no less than 214 people were involved in this rescue operation, of which more than 70 policemen, more than 70 firefighters, more than 40 gendarmes, and more than 20 local policemen.
