Valeriu Gheorghita: Worrying Alarm Signal in Wave 4

Valeriu Gheorghita raises a very worrying alarm signal in the midst of the 4th wave of Corona virus infections in Romania, and this is because we are talking about a negative and extremely serious evolution of infections in Romania, both their average age and deaths starting to decreases.

Valeriu Gheorghita says that this happens mainly because of the small number of young people vaccinated, and probably because until now it has been said that the elderly are the most vulnerable, being vaccinated, so young people become the main target of the virus.

"At the moment, the median age is about 43 years old compared to 48 years old as it was before the cases of the last weeks. Also, the average age of deaths is decreasing, being at the moment 67 years old compared to 71 years old as it was previously known and a very important thing, in the registered deaths, if 94,6% had comorbidities, in at the moment, in the deaths registered in the weeks of August 2-15, only 88,3% of the deceased people had comorbidities.

So basically this, if you will, reinforces the signal of a higher likelihood of developing severe forms, including among people who are younger and who don't have associated chronic diseases, which of course is a concern and I think it is as serious as it can be, and we must not neglect this aspect, which after all belongs to the life of each one of us.

As we have already conveyed, at the moment, by vaccinating against COVID-19 we can prevent the loss of human lives and deaths. No matter how much we look at the efficiency and effectiveness data, vaccines if they stay in the fridge will not produce any beneficial effect, namely, we must vaccinate. So basically it's the vaccination that brings the benefits and not the vaccine itself."
