Video: Celluon Prodigy – iPhone 4/4S case that projects a virtual keyboard!

This year, at CES 2012, the accessory manufacturers "did their best" by bringing to the market some of the most interesting devices designed so far. In the image above we have Celluon Prodigy, an external battery case for iPhone 4/4S that can project a virtual keyboard onto almost any surface. The image above reminds me of a much older one made as a concept for the iPhone 5, but the design of a virtual keyboard for an iPhone becomes a reality only with the help of a simple accessory.

Although the device seems to be extremely great, the reality is that it does not work as well as we would like. Prodigy works with the help of a camera and a projector, the camera trying to figure out where exactly we position our finger on the keyboard projected in front of the iPhone. The problem is that that camera can't "guess" the keys pressed by users that well, and Celluon has a similar device on the market for the iPad, which unfortunately doesn't do any better. Celluon Prodigy will cost around $190, but unfortunately the user experience is not worth it, it does not encourage a user to pay even half of the purchase price.

Below is a demonstration of the Celluon Magic Cube now available on the market.
