Dropbox requires changing some account passwords

Dropbox requires changing passwords for accounts registered before 2012, if they have not been changed until now.

The Dropbox company today initiated a campaign to change the passwords for the accounts of certain users, they are already receiving information emails in this regard. Before you think that Dropbox has been hacked, I tell you that we are only talking about a protective measure made by the American company for some older users.

More specifically, dropbox asks users who haven't changed their passwords in 4 years to update them to be sure they can't be guessed or broken by hackers. At the first login, starting today, users will be asked to change their password to one that is stronger and cannot be cracked that easily.

Dropbox says that the measure is a preventive one and that there is no incident that a large number of accounts have been hacked, so users should not be afraid, at least in theory. Of course, many questions may arise here, but without clear information that there are hackers who would have hacked the Dropbox accounts, for now we can only believe the company.

That said, if you are asked by Dropbox to update your password, you will be required to do so, but this is a measure to better secure your account.

"If you registered a Dropbox account in the first half of 2012 and have not changed your password since then, you will be asked to update it at the next location. This measure is purely preventive and there is no indication that your account has been accessed by an unknown entity. We apologize for any inconvenience."
