Valeriu Gheorghita: Worrying announcement in Wave 4 in Romania

Valeriu Gheorghita sends a very worrying message in the midst of wave 4 of infections in Romania, the coordinator of the vaccination campaign saying for all Romanians that the average age of those infected with the Coronavirus is decreasing during this period due to the Delta variant.

Valeriu Gheorghita says, as you can see below, that more and more young people are getting infected with the new Coronavirus, but also that, unfortunately, including in the case of deaths, there is a trend of decreasing average age, the Delta variant becoming extremely problematic .

"From this point of view, the analysis by age groups shows a trend of growth in particular of people who are young, of those in the age group under 40 years, much more accelerated compared to the age group greater than 40 years. Also, a downward trend in the average age of confirmed individuals is observed.

Basically, we are talking about an average of 43 years, compared to 48 years, among those who test positive, and also, if we look at the recorded deaths, the trend is again to decrease the average age to 69 years, compared to 71 years. From this point of view, our message is very clear, which is to accelerate and increase the rate of vaccination, because in this way we can avoid deaths, we can avoid serious cases of illness and, obviously, hospitalizations."
