Desi Apple nu promoveaza Mac Mini-urile ca un posibil inlocuitor pentru serverele ce sustin cam tot ceea ce poate exista pe internet, exista totusi destule persoane care le folosesc in acest scop. In imaginea de mai sus avem o demonstratie a modului in care 160 de Mac Mini-uri pot fi montate intr-un rack pentru servere, cele 640 de nuclee active in acest set up fiind capabile sa sustina aproape orice fel de trafic sau task-uri complexe.
I have introduced these machines to the production environment, they run great… I had to add a 10Gb SFP+ Ethernet card to the XServe, and now I can NetBoot all 160 machines at the same time.. It works so well that all of the machines are back up and running within 45 seconds…. That’s fast for a NetBoot.. Here are some final pics of the cabinet.
Detinatorul lor a inlocuit un set up XServe cu 40 de unitati si 320 de procesoare, iar intreaga idee este cat se poate de interesanta pentru cei care lucreaza in acest domeniu.
