This week we told you that the team that developed the famous Gevey cards, which decode iPhone 4 terminals with iOS 4 baseband, discovered an unlock solution for iPhone 4S called Gevey Ultra S. Using this new card you can decode an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.x without jailbreaking and without calling the 112 emergency service, all for only $55, that is around 180 RON. Also this week I told you that the same producers they also started testing a card that decodes iPhone 4 terminals with baseband 04.11.08 or higher that we usually find in iOS 5.x. We will find out soon if the tests will be successful, but I am sure that everything will end with a card available for purchase.
If we have Gevey cards for decoding iPhone 4/4S terminals, then will the Dev Team release an unlock solution for these devices? The answer is more than likely no and it is based on the history of last year when MuscleNerd indirectly said that an unlock solution has no reason to be released since there are Gevey cards that decode these terminals. It doesn't matter if the Dev Team has an unlock solution for iPhone 4/4S on iOS 5 or not, because it will only be published if the current cards become useless after a baseband update, which will probably happen as soon as iOS 5.1 will be released. If you have an iPhone 3GS, don't expect an unlock solution because you have the option to install the iPad baseband and the Dev Team will not develop anything else for you.
In conclusion, in the near future I don't think that the Dev Team will bother to launch an unlock solution for iPhone 4/4S with iOS 5.x unless these decoding cards become completely useless on the new basebands, but even then the chances of the release of an unlock solution are very small.
