2 jailbreak solutions will be available, which one should I choose?

If you have read zaone.ro lately, then you surely know that 2 new jailbreak solutions will be available for iOS 4.1: greenpoison from Chronic Dev Team, Dev Team and comex; limera1n from geohot. The first one will be available tomorrow 10/10/10 at 13:10 and the second one will come a day later on 11/10/10, but both are very very important for iDevices users. Considering that there are 2 distinct jailbreak solutions, each one has its own characteristics, so I thought it would be good to give a brief introduction to both.

Greenp0ison:

  • it will only work on iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G;
  • will be untethered – probable only on iOS 4.1;
  • will hack the phones, i.e. the phone will be automatically activated by jailbreak;
  • disponibilitate 10/10/10, 13:10.

limera1n :

  • it might work with all terminals, it certainly works with iPhone 3GS with new bootrom, at least that's what you can understand from the picture this;
  • it is not known if it will hack the phones, but geohot has not made any jailbreak solution without this option;
  • will be untethered – probable only on iOS 4.1;
  • availability – 11/10/10.

If these 2 jailbreak solutions will not be combined, then it will be up to us to choose which one will be used to jailbreak our terminal:

  • if you have an iPhone 3GS with new/old bootrom then the choice is very simple - you will have to use limera1n because greenp0ison DOES NOT jailbreak your terminal;
  • if you have an iPad tablet or an iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4G and you have patience then you can wait until both are released and see which one is easier to use and for which the fewest errors are reported. Both Dev Team and geohot released good jailbreak solutions, so it's hard to choose between them;
  • if you need decoding for your terminals then you cannot use either of these 2 solutions and you will have to wait until PwnageTool appears;
  • if you have an iPhone 4 and you need decoding then you will have to use TinyUmbrella to update to iOS 4.1 without updating the baseband and then you can use either of these 2 solutions. A tutorial will here but it has not been tested by me yet, but I will test it tomorrow.

That's all about the 2 jailbreak solutions. Ultimately, we have to test each one separately and choose the best one.
