Ai un cont de Twitter sau esti dornic sa castigi o imprimanta Brother? Daca da atunci compania Brother are pentru tine un concurs foarte interesant care la final ti-ar putea aduce o multifunctionala foarte utila. Cei de la Brother pun la bataie in acest concurs multifunctionala inkjet color Brother MFC-J5910DW care are conectivitate Wi-Fi, are cititor de carduri si fax incorporate, are un LCD tactil de 3.9 inch, capabila sa printeze in format A3 dar si sa scaneze in format A3/A4. Imprimanta este foarte bine “dotata” insa asta nu este tot deoarece ea poate fi utilizata si cu ajutorul acestei aplicatii universale disponibila gratuit in App Store.

Ce trebuie sa faci pentru a o castiga? Rovio, compania dezvoltatoare a jocului Angry Birds, a reusit sa transforme micutul joc intr-un business de succes prin care comercializeaza diverse accesorii, produse vestimentare si acum casti pentru iDevice-uri. In imaginea de mai sus avem prezentat produsul Angry Birds Tweeters si acesta este doar unul dintre cele 5 modele pe care compania le comercializeaza in momentul de fata prin intermediul magazinului celor de la Gear 4. Cele 5 modele sunt desigur facute dupa 5 personaje din joc si cred ca il veti gasi acolo pe favoritul vostru.

Din pacate Angry Birds Tweeters nu sunt disponibile pentru achizitie in momentul de fata deoarece compania pare sa fi epuizat stocul initial insa daca sunteti interesati sa le cumparati puteti urmari acest site pentru a face o comada. Un sistem de operare pentru terminale mobile este bun numai daca exista dezvoltatori care cred in el si dezvolta aplicatii pentru magazinul sau de aplicatii. Anul acesta iOS-ul a fost de departe platforma preferata a dezvoltatorilor de aplicatii iar in razboiul Android vs iOS, platforma celor de la Apple castiga detasat. Facand o comparatie intre proiectele pentru aplicatii incepute pe cele doua platforme, in Q3 2011 peste trei sferturi dintre proiecte au fost incepute pentru platforma iOS si nu pentru platforma Android OS.

While the market nearly doubled for both platforms, we believe key events changed the proportion of support between these two platforms. Informatiile vin de la Flurry, o companie care analizeaza date trimise de peste 55.000 de companii care ii folosesc software-ul. Este arhicunoscut faptul ca App Store-ul celor de la Apple genereaza mult mai multi bani decat Android Market-ul companiei Google si probabil din acest motv iOS-ul a castigat in Q2 2011 increderea unei parti a dezvoltatorilor de aplicatii pentru Android. In final Google nu poate deocamdata concura cu Apple pentru atragerea dezvoltatorilor catre platforma sa si probabil nu va reusi sa faca vreodata acest lucru dar macar incearca.

iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G si Apple TV 2G untethered jailbroken pe iOS 5.0.1

Saptamana aceasta v-am tot povestit despre progresul facut de catre Pod2G in dezvoltarea solutiei de untethered jailbreak pentru iOS 5/5.0.1 si acum vin cu vesti noi. iPod Touch 4G si Apple TV 2G sunt acum untethered jailbroken pe iOS 5.0.1 multumita exploit-ului descoperit de catre Pod2G iar lucrurile par sa mearga in directia buna in momoentul de fata. iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPad 2 si iPhone 4S sunt singurele terminale care inca nu au fost jailbroken insa presupun ca pana la sfarsitul saptamanii vom vedea macar o parte dintre ele compatibile cu noua solutie.

Pod2G s-a bazat pe informatiile publicate de catre i0n1c in legatura cu modul in care poate fi exploatat iOS-ul si acum se pare ca reuseste sa implementeze extrem de repede solutia sa de jailbreak in produsele Apple. Speranta este ca Apple sa lanseze iOS 5.1 cat mai repede si solutia sa fie compatibila cu aceasta versiune a sistemului de operare iar Pod2G sa o lanseze si sa faca milioane de oameni fericiti cand apar vesti noi va anunt.

UPDATE: Si iPhone 3GS a fost untethered jailbroken pe iOS 5.0.1 in cursul serii trecute.

Impreuna cu iPhone 4S, Apple a lansat un asistent personal numit Siri care in baza comenzilor vocale rostite de catre utilizator este capabil sa indeplieasca anumite functii in iOS-urile noastre. Sistemul este foarte avansat si marea noutate nu vine pe partea de indeplinire a functiilor ci pe partea de recunoastere corecta a cuvintelor rostite de catre utilizatori si pe partea de urmarire a sirului unei conversatii. Inca de la anuntarea Siri cei de la Google s-au aratat indirect ingrijorati si acum se pare ca sunt aproape de a finaliza un sistem asemanator pentru Android OS numit Majel.

Majel is an evolution of Google’s Voice Actions that is currently available on most Android phones with the addition of natural language processing. Where Voice Actions required you to issue specific commands like “send text to…” or “navigate to…”, Majel will allow you to perform actions in your natural language similar to how Siri functions.

Majel fiind prescurtarea denumirii Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, computerul de bord al navei SS Enterprize din filmul Star Trek. Majel reprezinta o imbunatatire a sistemului Voice Actions din Android OS si in mare va indeplini exact aceleasi functii ca si Siri. Ma astept ca Google sa includa si posibilitatea de a deschide aplicatii, posibilitatea de a efectua cautari oriunde pe glob, compatibilitate cu mai multe limbi(nu si romana) si cam atat. Cei de la Google vor dezvolta un sistem interesant insa pentru inceput nu cred ca se va diferentia foarte mult de Siri care oricum ar trebui sa primeasca functii suplimentare in iOS 5.1.

Noi referinte despre iPad 3 descoperite in iOS 5.1 beta 2

Acum doua zile Apple a lansat iOS 5.1 beta 2, o noua versiune a sistemului de operare dedicat iDevice-urilor. Aceasta versiune este disponibila doar pentru dezvoltatorii de aplicatii pentru iOS si in ea Apple a inclus o lista lunga de iDevice-uri care sunt la ani distanta de lansarea pe piata. Compania a dorit sa dea de inteles celor care cauta zvonuri ca iOS-ul nu este o sursa de informatii cu privire la lansarea viitoarelor iDevie-uri si totul vine pe fondul unei scaderi a vanzarilor in lunile septembrie – octombrie, scadere generata de zvonurile privind lansarea iPhone 5.

Chiar si asa multi au cautat informatii despre tableta iPad 3 si iPhone 6 insa au gasit din nou informatii doar despre primul produs. In imaginea de mai sus avem dovada faptului ca 3 produse iPad ale Apple: Wi-Fi, CDMA si GSM sunt testate cu noua versiune a iOS. Din pacate referintele nu releva informatii importante cu privire la functiile tabletei insa ele reconfirma faptul ca Apple testeaza acum iPad 3 si o lansare pana cel tarziu in luna martie este intrutotul posibila.

Tutorial: Activeaza FaceTime prin 3G pe iPhone 4 fara jailbreak(Mac)

Desi multi utilizatori au asteptat ca Apple sa permita utilizarea FaceTime prin intermediul unei conexiuni 3G a iPhone-urilor noastre, din pacate compania din Cupertino mentine in continuare limitarea care ne impune ca FaceTime sa fie utilizat doar prin retele Wi-Fi. Desigur ca prin jailbreak putem depasi aceasta limitare si aplicatii ca My3G sau 3G Unrestrictor ne permit sa folosim FaceTime prin 3G insa am pentru voi o metoda care presupune activarea acestie functii fara jailbreak dar numai pe iPhone 4.

Am incercat tutorialul pe un iPhone 4 jailbroken si nu a mers, totul blocandu-se la procesul de pornire tethered. Puteti incerca si voi metoda pe terminale fara jailbreak iar daca functioneaza lasati va rog un comentariu.

Pasul 1

Descarcati iOs 5 de aici si aceasta versiune de redsn0w de aici.

Pasul 2

Deschideti redsn0w, alegeti meniul Extras>Select ipsw si selectati ipsw-ul descarcat la pasul 1.

Pasul 3

Reveniti la meniul principal si apoi introduceti terminalul in DFU Mode.

Pasul 4

Dupa ce ati introdus terminalul in DFU Mode apasati butonul Jailbreak iar din meniul urmator debifati Install Cydia si bifati doar Enable FaceTime over 3G.

redsn0w ar trebui sa isi faca treaba si dupa ce terminalul reporneste ar trebui sa puteti efectua apeluri FaceTime prin 3G. Aceasta metoda nu ar trebui sa faca jailbreak insa o utilizati pe propria raspundere. Alternativ puteti incerca tutorialul acesta care necesita jailbreak si functioneaza de pe Windows/Mac.

In cursul acestei seri Microsoft a lansat in App Store jocul Kinectimals insa impreuna cu el a facut publica si versiunea pentru iOS a aplicatiei SkyDrive. SkyDrive este un serviciu de file sharing pe care Microsoft il ofera gratuit utilizatorilor si in esenta avem parte de un Dropbox care ofera 25 de GB de spatiu in the cloud. Partea proasta este ca nu putem incarca fisiere mai mari de 100 MB insa partea buna este a putem incarca in contul SkyDrive orice fel de fisiere din iDevice-urile noastre si pe toate le putem descarca in calculator sau in alt iDevice.

Acum cateva luni de zile v-am spus ca FAA din SUA a inceput sa efectueze teste din care dorea sa afle daca tabletele iPad pot fi utilizate de catre piloti in timpul zborurilor avioanelor comerciale si iata ca astazi acest lucru a fost aprobat si American Airlines este prima companie aeriana care va folosi iPad 2 in propriile avioane. Pilotii vor inlocui hartile si manualele de zbor cu tabletele celor de la Apple intr-o incercare de a reduce spatiul ocupat in cabina dar si de a reduce greutatea avionului.

Android OS este un sistem open source, el poate fi utilizat de orice producator de terminale mobile si nu numai iar asta i-a ajutat pe cei de la Google sa il promoveze in lumea intreaga. Din pacate acest statut le-a adus celor de la Google si multe batai de cap deoarece sistemul de operare are probleme cu malware-ul care in ultimele 6 luni ale acestui an s-a inmultit extrem de rapid in interiorul ecosistemului Android. Chiar si asa, unii spun ca Android-ul nu este chiar atat de liber precum vrea Google sa credem iar infograficul de mai jos ar trebui sa puna lucrurile in perspectiva. Comparand Android cu iOS, sistemul de operare al celor de la Apple este inchis din toate punctele de vedere dar asta i-a asigurat succesul pe piata.

Apple data in judecata din cauza sistemului de identificare al apelantilor

La lungul sir de procese ale companiei Apple adaugam astazi unul nou care de aceasta data are legatura cu modul in care iOS-ul identifica initiatorul unui apel telefonic. Compania care a actionat Apple in judecata este din SUA si sustine ca doua brevete de inventie ce descriu tehnologii pentru idetificarea ID-ului unui apelant au fost incalcate in terminalele iPhone pe care Apple le-a lansat pe piata in ultimii ani.

Cequint Inc. of Seattle, a unit of data-network servicer TNS Inc. (TNS) of Reston, Virginia, seeks unspecified damages and a court order to stop Apple’s use of the inventions, according to a complaint yesterday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Cequint has been damaged by Apple’s infringement” and “will be irreparably harmed” unless stopped by a judge, Cequint’s lawyers said in the complaint.

Nici Apple nici compania Cequit nu au oferit detalii cu privire la acest nou proces insa Cequint a cerut unei instante din SUA sa oblige compania Apple sa nu mai foloseasca tehnologia in propriile iDevice-uri. Practic Cequint cere interzicerea comercializarii de iDevice-uri pana cand problema este rezolvata si Apple este din nou fortata sa isi apare iPhone-urile intr-o instanta americana.

Infinity of God este un nou joc pentru platforma iOS care urmeaza sa fie lansat in App Store in viitorul apropiat si care imprumuta destul de multe elemente ale jocului God of War pentru console. Jocul este facut de catre o companie din China deci faptul ca elementele sale sunt inspirate de undeva nu ar trebui sa mire pe cineva insa judecand totul dupa trailer se anunta a fi un titlu foarte interesant. Partea interesanta la Infinity of God sta in faptul ca este construit folosind motorul grafic Unreal Engine 3 deci din punct de vedere vizual nu vom avea ce sa ii reprosam.

Nu se stie ceva despre data de lansare a Infinity of God sau despre pretul pe care il va avea joc insa de indata ce va fi disponibil va voi anunta.

Nu doar Apple are o problema cu Android OS ci si Microsoft iar un membru al echipei care dezvolta Windows Phone 7 la Microsoft a anuntat aseara deschiderea unei noi campanii prin care compania va oferi terminale cu Windows Phone 7 gratuit. Pentru a participa la promotia celor de la Microsoft trebuie sa ai un terminal Android si sa scrii pe Twitter ce experiente neplacute ai avut cu terminalul tau, cei de la Microsoft punand accentul pe problemele legate de malware. Ben Rudolph de la Microsoft face referire in tweet-ul sau la un articol care vorbeste despre 22 de aplicatii cu malware care au fost scoase din Android Market insa aceasta miscare nu rezolva nici pe departe problema.

Strategia celor de la Microsoft este extrem de interesanta deoarece abordeaza o problema pe care multi posesori de terminale Android o intalnesc zi de zi. Google a avut si inca are probleme cu aplicatiile din Android Market care sunt infectate cu malware insa fiindca exista multe Market-uri in lumea intreaga, un utilizator se poate infecta din oricare dintre ele. Exista “antivirusi” pentru Android pentru cei interesati insa Microsoft doreste sa foloseasca posesorii de terminale Android pentru a ataca acest sistem de operare insa deocamdata pe hashtag-ul oficial de pe Twitter nu s-a inscris prea multa lume.

Apple angajeaza omul care a gandit un alt fel de iOS

Inaintea lansarii iOS 5 v-am prezentat o serie intreaga de clipuri video in care un designer numit Jan-Michel Cart care ne prezenta viziunea sa cu privire la noul sistem de operare al companiei Apple. Desigur ca Apple nu a lansat un iOS care semana macar un parte cu tot ce am vazut noi acolo insa compania a vazut munca designerului si recent acesta a anuntat ca a devenit angajat al Apple. Sincer sa fiu cred ca Apple a reusit sa angajeze un designer foarte talentat insa sper ca acolo talentul sau sa ajute la infrumusetarea iOS-ului si nu la altceva.

Jan-Michael Cart este al doilea designer cunoscut care este angajat de Apple, primul fiind Peter Hajas, cel care a facut sistemul MobileNotifier, un tweak a carui functionalitate o avem in parte implementata in iOS 5 dar intr-un mod usor diferit. Daca il adaugam si pe comex in lista de omeni angajati de catre Apple atunci putem spune ca acum compania are in maini cativa angajati extrem de capabili sa schimbe fata iOS-ului asa cum il stim noi astazi, ramane de vazu daca ei in final vor fi lasati sa faca acest lucru.

In concluzie, daca esti talentat si munca ta este apreciata la nivel international, s-ar putea sa realizezi ca Apple este interesata de serviciile tale.

Pentru sistemul de operare Windows Phone 7.5 a fost descoperit un bug interesant dar si extrem de enervant care poate transforma un smartphone functional intr-un terminal inutilizabil. Totul are legatura cu modul in care Windows Phone 7 “citeste” anumite caractere si clipul video de mai sus prezinta cat se poate de bine intreaga problema. Practic smartphone-ul se reseteaza atunci cand utilizatorul primeste un mesaj SMS, un mesaj pe FaceBook sau orice alta aplicatie de comunicare. Din pacate dupa repornire utilizatorul ramane fara Messaging Hub dar si cu un sistem de operare care nu functioneaza corect.

The flaw works simply by sending an SMS to a Windows Phone user. If the SMS contains a particular string of text then Windows Phone 7.5 devices will reboot and the messaging hub will not open despite repeat attempts. We have tested the attack on a range of Windows Phone devices, including HTC’s TITAN and Samsung’s Focus Flash. The attack is not device specific and appears to be an issue with the way the Windows Phone messaging hub handles particular characters. The bug is also triggered if a user sends a Facebook chat message or Windows Live Messenger message to a recipient.

Un terminal nu poate fi exploatat si nu poate fi obtinut acces la datele confidentiale in acest mod insa puteti ramane cu un terminal inutilizabil daca sunteti “atacati”. Mesajul din cauza caruia sistemul se blocheaza contine un anumit set de caractere pe care Windows Phone 7 le recunoaste intr-un mod gresit si din pacate singura metoda de a rezolva problema implica un hard reset al terminalului. Desigur ca dupa acel hard reset puteti ajunge din nou in acelasi situatie. Problema afeceaza orice smartphoe cu Windows Phone 7.5 deci daca aveti unul va recomand sa aveti grija cu cine vorbiti.

Interesant este ca dupa publicarea informatiilor despre acest bug, seful diviziei care se ocupa cu dezvoltarea Windows Phone 7 a fost concediat.

Video: iDevice.ro review – Seagate GoFlex Satellite

Cu ajutorul celor de la evoMAG am avut ocazia de a testa Seagate GoFlex Satellite, un hard disk extern care permite utilizatorilor sa se conecteze la el de pe un iDevice si sa vizioneze/utilizeze fisierele stocate. Hard disk-ul are o capacitate de 500 GB si este echipat cu un chip Wi-Fi, compatibil cu standardul 802.11 b/g/n, prin care se transfera informatiile catre iDevice-uri, produsul facand un Wi-Fi HotSpot pe care il putem accesa doar cu ajutorul unei aplicatii speciale conceputa de catre cei de la Seagate si disponibila in App Store.

Seagate GoFlex Satellite poate fi totusi conectat la un calculator prin intermediul prin USB/eSATA/FireWire 800, produsul beneficiind de tehnologia USB 3.0. Pe Windows Seagate GoFlex Satellite este automat recunoscut ca un dispozitiv extern si puteti copia direct fisierele in el insa pe Mac trebuie sa instalati NTFS For Mac OS X plus un software special al celor de la Seagate. Din pacate pentru cei cu Mac-uri experienta nu este seamless insa trebuie sa ne asteptam la asa ceva de la un produs fabricat special pentru Windows OS.

Dupa ce ati desfacut produsul si il aveti conectat la calculator vine timpul sa transferati fisierele. Aici intervine principala problema pentru iDevice-uri deoarece aplicatia conceputa de Seagate nu poate rula filme in alte formate decat cele acceptate de iDevice-uri. Practic noi trebuie sa convertim filmele in format .mp4 sau H.264 pentru a le putea vedea pe iDevice-uri si aici este unul dintre principalele puncte slabe ale produsului. Imposibilitatea de a copia pe hard disk un film si a il vedea direct pe iDevice face utilizarea sa anevoioasa dar nu imposibila. Totusi partea buna este ca in ceea ce priveste copierea fisierelor doar hard disk-ul calculatorului vostru este limita iar eu pe USB 3.0 am reusit sa ating viteze maxim de 90 MB/s si viteze medii de 60MB/s.

Ati copiat fisierele in hard disk fie utilizand cablu USB inclus fie utilizand browserul si acum doriti sa le vizionati, nu? Ei bine mergeti in App Store descarcati aplicatia aceasta pe iDevice-ul vostru, mergeti in meniul de setari al iOS si cautati reteaua Wi-Fi care are denumirea SGS si conectati-va la ea. Dupa ce va conectati la HotSpot dechideti aplicatia si veti avea acces la toate fisierele disponibile in Seagate GoFlex Satellite-ul vostru. Clipul video de mai sus prezinta cat se poate de clar tot ceea ce veti gasi acolo si modul in care puteti interactiona cu fisierele.

Acum sa trecem la playback. Seagate-ul poate rula atat filme in format SD cat si filme in format HD. Pe un iPhone/iPod Touch nu aveti nevoie de un film in format SD insa pe o tableta iPad diferenta dintre aceste doua formate este usor de “descoperit”. Seagate-ul permite conectarea simultana a maxim 3 iDevice-uri si el face streaming catre toate 3 in acelasi timp insa in cazul unui film in format HD observati ca stream-ul nu este chiar atat de fluent. Pe doua iDevice-uri puteti face streaming unui film in format HD fara probleme insa daca adaugam un al treilea dispozitiv in ecuatie atunci lucrurile se complica. In ceea ce priveste filmele in format SD totul ruleaza fluent, fara probleme pe toate 3 iDevice-urile in acelasi timp.

Desigur ca va intrebati oare cat poate face streaming constant un asemenea dispozitiv catre iDevice-urile noastre. Ei bine cei de la Seagate spun ca putem utiliza dispozitivul pentru maxim 5 ore folosing GoFlex Satellite insa totul depinde de ce anume facem cu produsul. Daca facem streaming pentru filme in format HD pe 3 iDevice-uri autonomia se reduce considerabil insa daca doar vizionam poze, ascultam muzica sau citim documente atunci nu ar trebui sa intampinam probleme deosebite.

Seagate GoFlex Satellite este un dispozitiv interesant, portabil(cu aproximativ 30 – 40% mai mare decat un iPhone 4/4S) care este extrem de util in calatoriile lungi. Pe hard disk poti stoca orice si il poti utiliza cu orice calculator, nu doar cu un iDevice. In viitor cred ca acest gen de produse vor deveni din ce in ce mai utilizate deorece ne ofera posibilitatea de a lua cu noi foarte multe fisiere si de a le accesa oriunde si oricand fara a avea acces la internet. Ganditi-va ca acum nu aveti nevoie de internet pentru a accesa Cloud-ul ci il aveti direct in buzunar iar de pe el puteti asculta muzica, viziona filme, citi documente, vedea poze, practic inlocuiti Dropbox-ul cu un dispozitiv mai util si cu mai mult spatiu de stocare.

Calltell iti recita numele persoanelor care te suna, citeste SMS-uri

CallTell este un vechi tweak pentru iPhone 3GS si iPhone 4 care rosteste numele persoanei care te suna. Mai mult decat atat aplicatia poate recita si textele din SMS-uri, deci e foarte utila pentru cei persoanele cu probleme de vedere sau pentru cei care pur si simplu nu au chef sa citeasca textul. Aplicatia functioneaza doar pe iPhone 3GS si iPhone 4, acestea fiind singurele iPhone-uri care pot fi jailbroken. CallTell se foloseste de setarile de sunet ale aplicatiei iPod deci daca textul recitat se aude prea incet modificati setarile pentru aplicatia iPod.

In cursul serii trecute o noua versiune a Call Tell a fost lansata, ea este compatibila cu iOS dar aduce si urmatoarele noutati :

Aseara Apple a lansat iOS 5.1 beta 2 pentru dezvoltatorii de aplicatii pentru iOS si iH8sn0w a descoperit data la care aceasta versiune a sistemului de operare va expira. 31 ianuarie este ziua in care iOS 5.1 beta 2 va deveni inutilizabil deci avem in fata o luna si jumatate in care Apple ar putea lansa noi versiuni ale iOS 5.1 beta sau ar putea lansa chiar versiunea finala prin iTunes. In general Apple lanseaza macar doua versiuni beta ale iOS inainte sa publice o versiune finala pentru utilizatori iar cel mai recent exemplu in acest sens este iOS 5.1.

Desi aceste date nu sunt fixe, ele ne ofera o idee cu privire la perioada de timp in care Apple este dispusa sa testeze o noua versiune a iOS inainte de a o lansa pentru toti utilizatorii. Daca saptamana viitoare vom avea iOS 5.1 beta 3 disponibil atunci puteti fi siguri ca iOS 5.1 final va fi lansat anul viitor.

Britanicii pot inchiria terminale iPhone 4S de la operatorul O2

In lumea intreaga se anunta ca economiile au reintrat in recesiune, ca ne asteapta o noua criza financiara si operatorul de telefonie mobila O2 din Marea Britanie are o oferta foarte interesanta pregatita pentru clientii sai in aceste vremuri grele. Compania da britanicilor posibilitatea de a inchiria un iPhone 4S pentru un an intreg impreuna cu un abonament de 55£ pe luna. Da, ati citit bine, utilizatorii inchiriaza iPhone 4S-ul de la operator si pentru cele 55£ platite lunar primesc : un iPhone 4S de 16 GB, 750 de minute in retea, 500 MB trafic si posibilitatea de a trimite oricate mesaje vor in reteaua O2.

Practic preturile pentru inchirierea unui iPhone sunt la fel de mari precum cele platite pentru achizitionarea sa doar ca la final trebuie sa dai terminalul inapoi in aceeasi conditie in care l-ai achizitionat.
